Calibanus Information page Calibanus is a monotypic genus (it contains only one species) closely
related to Beaucarnea. It forms a caudex (fat trunk), topped with grassy looking leaves. The Calibanus hookeri develops a caudex that can reach over 3 feet in
diameter (90 cm). The long, glass-like, bluish leaves grow on the top
of the caudex. The genus is named for Shakespeare's monster, Caliban. Keep the grass-like leaves trimmed to expose the heavily textured round body.
