Sarcocaulon

Sarcocaulon

Sarcocaulon is another low growing succulent spiny shrub from the deserts of South Africa. The name Sarcocaulon indicates the Greek words for fleshy, sarkos, and stems, caulon. The leaves are sparse enough to expose the fantastically textured short thick stems. These stems are usually coloured like rocks, having various shades of brown. The flower are delicate like tissue paper and com in white, pink, or salmon. It's an excellent choice for those having limited space. Being from the desert, Sarcocaulon species are very sensitive to over watering.
Here are some example photos of various species of Sarcocaulon.
